I guess since I starting to settling down here in Hong Kong I will share from time to time halal restaurants here. I will make a separate blogpost about Halal Everything in Hong Kong, where I can put together all the links of separate blogpost of each place or topic of Halal in Hong Kong and guide you there each time anyone ask it.
Location
So onto today's post is about this halal restaurant called Ma's Restaurant. Its located in Sham Shui Po district. We went there after work on Friday night and its full house. We went there by train from Causeway Bay, change trains afrom Island Line to Tsuen Wan Line and stop at Prince Edward station, went on Exit E and just walk around 5-7mins to the restaurant. They open from 11.30am until 11pm everyday and there are 10% service charge from 5.30pm till they close.
Price & Menu
We ate quite a lot and it cost us only 187hkd/person for 3 people with service charge. Bear in mind that prices for food in Hong Kong is quite expensive for a proper restaurant dishes. Usually it cost 100-200hkd for each dish and the prices different between time of the day. Dinner is usually 10-30% more expensive than lunch menu. So if you want to save a bit, its better to buy your dinner at lunch. You can check their full menu from here. It cost around 50-100hkd per dish. It came in a set for 2/4/6 as well with chicken/beef/lamb options if you had no idea what to eat. The set include their main dishes like soup and stir fry together with dim sum and dessert.
Our Dinner
We order the set for 2 (Bubble boiled lamb soup, Plain roti with beef stir fry, Lamb goulash and Corn coconut pudding) and added spicy veggie stir fry, fried tofu with sweet and sour sauce and stir fried chicken with pepper and spice. They provide chinese tea for free so we didnt order any drinks. You can if you want to.
The Interior
Its a clean and quite a big restaurant. I'm guessing it can accomodate up to 100 people at one time. The place it equipped with air conditioner and air ventilation means you wont soak with the food smell even they have open kitchen concept. The restaurant is located at corner of the building towards main road which means its easily seen when you looking for it. Just to keep note that the walking space inside is narrow which mean if you have lots of luggage or a stroller, it cant fit to put by your table side. You need to pack away and put at the entrance space, if you can see from the last photos below. Sorry, I didnt do a good job at capturing that. I just thought about it when I saw the picture while typing this blogpost.
So this will be an update photos from my recent visit. We went there again for dinner last Friday which was on 5th of Oct 2018 and order different dishes to try out. This time my fave is the Vegetable Wonton. Others just so-so. And again we spend another $200 here and its full house!
Vegetable Wonton
Stir Fried Mixed Vegetable
Chicken with 3 cups of sauce in Mini Hot Pot
Beef Brisket with Brown Sauce
Plain Pop Pan
Let me know if you want to know anything about this place or travelling in Hong Kong in general. Have a good day peeps.
