Salam and hi everyone,

Today I would like to share a thai-menu restaurant called LemonGrass in Hysan Place. We originally come here for Tom Yam dish but decided on something else. We ordered Sukhothai Seabass with Sweat and Sour Sauce, Fried Mixed Veggies and Mango Sticky Rice as appetiser. We did asked for rice. You can eat just the dish if you want. We saw few people just order the crab with yellow curry dish and enjoy it without anything else, side note, normal price for crab is 568hkd and they do have 50% off occasionally. Crazy!

Price Range

I will say this restaurant have a bit higher price for its dishes. For these meals, it cost us almost 500hkd for 3 types of dish with 2 bowls of rice and plain water aka no water ordered. So, be prepared.

Taste

I like their fried mixed veggies. To be honest its nothing special and I do like veggies to begin with but at least it taste fresh and crunchy. For the fish, its quite a disappoint to my tastebud. We had to wait almost half an hour for the fish after we had our veggie and rice which means we ate it cold (ps: I hate cold food) and the sauce was not a sauce! The sauce was actually just like Thai Chilli sauce from a bottle. If you ever been to let say Mc Donald in Malaysia, you will see that we have 3 sauces available; tomato, chilli and thai chilli. The different between chilli and thai chilli is that thai chilli has sweeter taste and not as spicy which I dont like it at all. And because the sauce is cold, put on the fish, the dish doesnt taste as good. I will expect as a proper restaurant, they will make the sauce and serve it hot and fresh out of the pan but its not. Sad~

They serve the mango sticky rice with black sticky rice, (maybe its red bean, I dont know) it taste weird but manageable. Unfortunately the coconut cream was too thin. I cant really taste it when I eat it together with the mango and sticky rice. The way you eat this is have a lil bit of mango with sticky rice and the coconut cream altogether. So the sweet mango with a bit salty sticky rice will taste good when you eat with thick milky coconut cream. It taste totally wrong here haha

Do I recommend it?

Frankly speaking it doesnt taste anything near to Thai original dish. But it worth to try and see if you like it if you never try Thai dishes before. On the other hand, I like the vibe and environment of the restaurant. Its very cosy and peaceful to eat. We might only will come here once again to try the Tom Yum dish and no more. So, you do the math.

I hope this was somewhat hopeful. Have you tried this restaurant before? What is your fave dish?

Have a nice weekend!

Love,
