Salam and hi everyone,

So finally today I will share as much information about my trip to Osaka, Japan last year. I was meaning to write this post for the longest but I keep procrastinating it. And today, I decided it will be the day I’ll just get done with it.

So, how did I plan my travel trip?

I usually start with purchasing the plane ticket. Thats the hardest and usually the most expensive one. Once I have my ticket, everything else will just come into places.

Plane Tickets and Accommodation

I bought the ticket few weeks before the date for around RM1200 with luggage 20kg and meals. Then I did research on where I want to visit based on; how pretty are they (uniqueness), entrance fee, distance and how to get there. I will take take that into consideration to decide where to stay. Of course to choose the exact place, I will research on how easy to get there from airport, cost, review (thats include service and safety) and the surrounding (near public transport and food options).
I was originally want to stay at AirBnB because there will be my friends joining me for the trip but then she had to cancel on short notice. So I just decided to stay at the dorm type hostel/guesthouse for the whole trip. Its safe, female dorm type with positive review, easy access to public transport and convenient stores and most of all its affordable. I stay there 5 nights for less than RM400. Plus its in the middle of city and walking distance to lots of food places and shopping malls. So, I’m good. I already do post about it here.

City Passes and Internet Roaming

I did a lot of research on where to go and how to get around cities. Osaka-Kyoto-Kobe those 3 provinces have good daily or combined passes that you can buy in advance or on the day. You can use Klook services (website) for more info on passes, activities and tours available in the city. They also has an app which make the buy and claim process easier. I also bought my internet from there before fly and easily claimable once you touch down at the Kansai International Airport. They have counter where you can go and claimed all your purchases. One good thing about this is that everything is paid in advance, so it make budgeting easier and carry less cash in hands.

Japan  Tip Itinerary

Here is where you can download it if you are planning to go to Japan yourself and need and itinerary. Props to my friend for sharing her itinerary. I basically just copy paste and add stuff here and there. Just tweak the plan from there to fit your own style. I stayed in Osaka and did manage to visit both Kobe and Kyoto provinces together with 2 outlets. There are still lots of other places I want to go. I will definitely come back in near future.

What I Packed

Food - I know I will want to eat a lot of local food. Click here for what I ate during my trip. But I still brought Brahims dish packs (where you can cook with microwave and buy the microwaveable rice at their convenience store for only $1), few packets of noodles, biscuits and coffees packs enough for the whole week for breakfast. I also brought fork/spoon and tupperware.
Clothes - I checked the weather and it will be mostly cold (my fave temperature) so I brought a pair of pyjama, 2 jackets, 2 jeans, 2 heattech shirts and 5 shirts. I figure I will just buy anything else I needed there.
Electronics - I only brought my iPhone 7+ and Olympus Pen EPL-7 camera for this trip. Decided to ditch the laptop and gopro as well as the dslr camera because of weight issues. I put hell lots of videos and movies and ebooks on my phone for long haul flight and prepare few SD cards for the camera so I’ll have enough storage for travel pictures and videos.

I will share more info on what I decided to do each day and pictures from my trip soon.
ps: I’m still procrastinating to edit those travel video.

Overall, I spend less than Rm4000 from this trip and thats include big purchases from the outlet for my mum and sourvenirs to lots of people. I bet you can simply cut another thousand from the budget if you skip the outlet and Daiso purchases. ps: Daiso is dirt cheap there, I spent couple hundreds ringgit for random stuff and sourvenirs.

Hope this is somewhat helpful for those of you who are going to Japan anytime soon.
Have a nice day.
