On the second day there, I was able to do a bit more exciting touristy thing. We rent a car and our guy friend offer himself to drive us around. Thats super nice of him...
Breakfast
Since we back quite late the night before, we start our day a bit late, 8.30am. We went to have Mei Tarempa and Teh Tarik for breakfast. I can't remember where exactly the name of the restaurant but its somewhere in main city Batam. Its basically noodle with soy sauce and chill sauce.Setoko Beach
After that we decided to go spend time near the beach. Since Batam is surrounded by the water, there are a lot of beaches and small islands. So, we went to the nearest beach called Setoko Beach. Unfortunately, its raining cats and dogs. So the lighting was a bit off.. But the view was amazing. The beach has a lot of huts made out of wood and canes. It's feel very old school and fresh. It's suitable for family picnic and camping. There was only one food place to eat or to buy drinks.
We spend almost an hour there. Had mini photoshoot and play with water. The beach was very shallow as you can see from the picture above. The actual beach started a mile away...
Vietnam Village
Another thing that a must do in Batam is to visit Vietnam Village. The entrance fee was Rp. 3,000/ person.
"Vietnam Village, a former Vietnamese Refugee Camp, was built by Vietnamese “Boat People” that escaped the war in Vietnam by boat, and arrived at Galang Island in 1976 and occupied the village until 1995"

Galang Museum
Then we proceed to to final place which was the museum. The picture above was the prison where they put all the criminals during the time. And, there was small stall selling coconut water and light food on the left side of the picture. Its just a small hut under the tree. You can see better picture of the place and the museum from the vlog in my youtube channel; Batam's Vlog (coming soon).Although its raining earlier that day, its getting so hot by noon. So, we stop for a drink then continue to visit the museum.
The drawings inside the museum illustrated the era by the famous painters
Bakso + Satay Padang
By the time we done with the tour its already passed 3pm. We went to perform our prayer at the nearby mosque and head straight to Balerang Bridge once again for late lunch and early dinner. We had bask and satay Padang.

The Sunset
While waiting for the sunset, we spend an hour by the water, where there was a hut where you can riles and fishing.
The Massage and Supper
After watching sunset we prayed and went for an hour body massage in Reborn near Nagoya mall. You will need to change cloth and they give a ginger drinks with biscuit after you are done. Its not the best body massage but its okay. The price was reasonable, around 8000Rp.Since we had early dinner, after we done with massaging all of us kind of hungry and want to have some drinks while chatting.
I had Magnum Toast with Peach Juice.
There goes our day. Thanks to my friends for having me for the weekend.Flight home.
The next day my flight was 11am Indonesia time. I went to the airport 2 hours earlier but you can only check in an hour before flight. After checked in I had some breakfast and coffee at Coffee Beans. Landed safely around 1.20pm and arrived around 2.30pm at the office. That's just my style of traveling. I like to take an early flight (thats the earliest and only flight to and from Subang Airport) and head straight to work. If I got back a day before than I'll get post-holiday syndrome heheThat's the end of my rilexing weekend in Batam. Checked Batam, Indonesia from my to-go list. Hoping Vietnam or Cambodia fr my next trip!
Thanks for stopping by...
Toodles,
Mija
